As I wait for my tea to brew and my boys are napping, I thought I would sit down for a minute and put down my thoughts on my blog. Next Monday, they will both be in school five days a week for nine months. How do I feel about that? I do not know. All I know is that both of my babies will be gone daily during the week into the public schools in our area. I am not sure how I feel about this.
Let me start with Sammy. Since the week after Sammy turned three, he has been attending a very good public preschool in our area for two years and he has excelled beyond our wildest dreams. He went from grunting most words and speaking very few to speaking much clearer in a matter of weeks. We are so proud of his success. In order for him to continue to attend this school we put him in daycare so that I could continue to work my job where I had been working for six years. BIG MISTAKE! I have been kicking myself for over a year for that mistake. It was the best daycare in the area (and trust me I know daycares-I used to work in one!); but even the best daycare cannot make up for home training. We will be working on some social issues, such as poor impulse control, but academically, we could not ask for a better outcome. He is an academic star! YAY!
Austin will be attending Pre-K at the same public preschool that Sammy attended as a 3 and 4 year old preschooler. Austin is 4 and doing well in all areas except for academics. He is reluctant to learn his alphabet, shapes, and colors. He does know some of his shapes and colors, but not all of them. His alphabet recognition is not developed at all, but not for lack of trying. Ask Mrs. Kim from Trinity (the preschool he attended last year). She was so patient with him. As Kate from Jon & Kate plus 8 says "God bless that woman!" He can trace his name which is a plus. I owe that to Mrs. Kim. He learned his shapes and how to play games and put together puzzles with a group of peers from Mrs. Kim also . --(We are still working on those things with Sammy due to his lack of impulse control.)-- So I am not worried about Austin socially at all as far as school goes. He is such a good friend and my social butterfly[when he's in a good mood:)]. But academically, we have some work to do. I am hoping this school will work it's magic as it did on Sammy. :-) :-)
So, anyways, back to today. I realized that summer is almost over and the kids will be going back to school in a week so we opened up the sand box and had some SUMMER FUN. Here is a pic!
